Triton High student charged with trying to sell marijuana on school campus
LILLINGTON - A Triton High School football player was charged Monday with trying to sell marijuana on campus, authorities said.
Javonte R. Hodges, 16, of the 400 block of West Harnett Street in Dunn, is charged with possessing marijuana and selling marijuana, according to an arrest report from the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.
Hodges also is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, the report said.
Hodges, a junior, was a running back and defensive back on the Triton Hawks football team this year, according to the MaxPreps website.
As a running back, he rushed for eight yards while on defense he was credited with three tackles, the website said.
Triton posted a 10-0 record heading into the 2012 3AA state playoffs, but lost 33-0 to D.H. Conley in the first round.
Hodges' bail was set at $7,500.
