Cape Fear football: 5 players to watch

Here's a look at some of the Colts' standouts.

Myles Forde-Carpenter

Position: Tight end/defensive end

Height/weight: 6-1, 220

Class: Senior

About Forde-Carpenter: Strong and fast for his size, he should contribute on both sides of the ball for the Colts. He made his biggest impact last season in the offensive backfield, rushing 17 times for 53 yards, and will be used as a blocker/receiver this year.

Spencer Faircloth

Position: Quarterback

Height/weight: 6-1, 200

Class: Senior

About Faircloth: Takes over for departed senior D.J. Moore, a dual-threat QB who rushed and passed for more than 800 yards last season. Faircloth is smart with a strong arm, and he'll be responsible for a lot in the Colts' offense after attempting passes in three games last season.

Adrian Jones

Position: Defensive tackle

Height/weight: 6-1, 270

Class: Junior

About Jones: Cape Fear's strongest player, he'll be counted on to anchor the Colts' defensive front. He was named a first-team all-conference performer last year after recording 67 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Tarje Robinson

Position: Wide receiver/defensive back

Height/weight: 6-0, 165

Class: Senior

About Robinson: One of only three returning starters on offense, he's expected to play some on both sides of the ball. He caught five passes for 109 yards last season, and three of the receptions were touchdowns.

Jordan Jacob

Position: Kicker/punter

Height/weight: 5-6, 140

Class: Senior

About Jacob: Last season, he led the county with 44 punts, including five that came to rest inside the 20, and a 36.4 average. As a kicker, he made nine field goals, six more than anyone else in the county.
