High school golf roundup: Pinecrest in fourth place in Class 4-A tournament

PINEHURST - Joshua Martin shot a 73 Monday to help Pinecrest to fourth place after the first round of the state 4-A golf tournament at Pinehurst No. 8
Raleigh Broughton holds the team lead with a 288. Pinecrest shot a 301.
Other Pinecrest score included Zach Martin 75, Sam Kosich 76 and Joshua Stochwell 77.
Low scores for Cumberland County golfers in the tournament were a 75 by Terry Sanford's Trey Guy and 78 by Cape Fear's Bobby Stens.
The tournament's individual leader is Stephen Saleeby of Raleigh Broughton who shot a first-round 67.

PINEHURST - Zane Lewis of Southern Lee shot a 70 to tie for first place after the opening round of the state 3-A tournament at Foxfire Golf and Country Club.
Lewis is tied with Brandon Katsoudas of Marvin Ridge. Lewis is the only Cape Fear region golfer competing in the 3-A tournament.

SOUTHERN PINES - Festus Turlington of Clinton shot a 72 to hold fifth place after the first day of the state 2-A tournament at Longleaf Golf and Country Club.
Taylor Coalson of North Surry and Alex Nianouri of Salisbury share the invidual lead after both shot 70.
West Bladen's Blake Baysden is tied for 15th overall with a 76.

BUIES CREEK - Adam Capps of Midway shot a first-round 78 to help his team to ninth place in the state 1-A tournament at Keith Hills Country Club.
Other Midway scores included Cameron Byrd 82, Zach Hobbs 88 and Robbie Peterson 92.
William Whitacre of Bishop McGuinness shot 67 for the invidual lead. His team has the overall lead with a 289 to 311 for second-place Lake Norman Charter.
Midway shot a 340.
