Prep Athletes of the Week: April 16-21
Six of the top performers in prep sports for the week beginning April 16.
DARLENE GIRARDEAU
School: South View
Sport: Track
Year: Senior
Notable: Girardeau won the long jump in the Carver Classic last week, setting a new school record. She also won the triple jump and the 100, and was second in the 200.
DESTINEE JIMENEZ
School: Cape Fear
Sport: Soccer
Year: Senior
Notable: As a marking back, Jimenez was instrumental in keeping key forwards from scoring in several matches and leads the team in steals.
HANNAH GODWIN
School: Gray's Creek
Sport: Softball
Year: Sophomore
Notable: Godwin was 5-for-10 with a double, triple, home run and five RBI's last week. She also pitched and got two wins and 19 strikeouts.
DAKOTA SCHAUB
School: Pine Forest
Sport: Track
Year: Sophomore
Notable: Schaub won three medals in last week's Carver Classic track meet. He was on the winning 4x800 relay team and the third-place 4x200 relay team, and he placed third individually in the 800 meter with a time of 2:03.
ANDRE STARKS
School: Fayetteville Christian
Sport: Baseball
Year: Junior
Notable: Starks was 5-for-6 with two home runs and 8 RBI's last week as Fayetteville Christian scored wins over O'Neal and Village Christian.
NANCY KIRK
School: Jack Britt
Sport: Soccer
Year: Junior
Notable: Kirk scored four goals in a game with E.E. Smith and had two assists in a game with Cape Fear.
