Smithfield-Selma drops Pine Forest in overtime

 

SMITHFIELD - Pine Forest lost a fumble on the 6-yard line in the extra frame to set up a 23-17 overtime win for Smithfield-Selma on Friday night.

The Spartans (1-2) rallied from a 10-3 deficit heading into the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns to go up 17-10.

Kishawn Akins' 8-yard run evened it up for the Trojans, sending the game to overtime.

After Smithfield-Selma recovered the Pine Forest fumble in overtime, Tre'vonn Reddick punched into the end zone on the Spartans' first possession.

Tony Page led the Trojans with 101 yards on 25 carries, and teammate Bryson Hall completed 12 of 25 passes for 230 yards.

The Trojans' Jason Marshall and E.J. Williams had 119 and 112 receiving yards, respectively.
