Westover girls' game delayed until Saturday

Westover's girls won't play their first game in the 3-A Eastern Regional in Greenville until Saturday at 1 p.m. at J.H. Rose High School.

All girls' games scheduled Wednesday night at Rose High School in Greenville were postponed because Pitt County Schools were closed due to snow. Pitt County officials told the N.C. High School Athletic Association they could not host playoff games on a day when they were not in school.

Games will be played tonight at East Carolina University's Minges Coliseum, with one girls' game being moved from Rose to Minges.

Westover will now play its first game at Rose at 1 p.m. Saturday against Havelock. Terry Sanford's boys, as originally scheduled, will face Wilmington New Hanover in a 7 p.m. game Friday at Minges Coliseum.

Westover could face a game Sunday. All of the regional championship games are still scheduled for Friday, except the 3-A girls' regional finals.

That game has been moved to 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose.
